It is a common misconception that Texas, New Mexico, and the rest of the Southwest are not susceptible to mold growth due to the arid desert climate. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Any moisture intrusion into a home, no matter how great, can create conducive conditions for mold development.

Mold is a type of fungus that develops in conditions with excessive moisture, normally caused in homes by leaks and/or poor ventilation. As it develops, it releases spores into the air. Extended exposure to mold spores can cause major allergic reactions and potentially life-threatening health concerns.

Testing For Mold & Indoor Air Quality

If you are purchasing a home with signs of prior water damage or flooding and suspect there might be mold, we highly recommend you have a Mold & Indoor Air test performed. All our Certified Residential Mold Inspectors have received extensive training and been certified by InspectorLab. During the test, your inspector will:

Collect Samples

During the test, your inspector will collect air and surface samples from around your home. The air sample will be collected using a spore trap whereas a direct piece or cotton swab over the affected area will be taken for the surface sample.

Analyze Samples

After samples have been collected, they are then sent to a full-service laboratory specializing in mold testing. Upon arrival, samples are professionally tested, with results typically being available the same day.
