Interior Inspection Overview
A thorough inspection of a property’s interior can be just as important as the exterior. Although many building codes are not overly concerned with details about the interior of a structure, there are several important—and sometimes overlooked—indicators about the safety and integrity of a home or commercial space.
The interior is the most well-traveled part of any property, which is why it is extremely important to keep it free from potential safety issues. Falls in residential homes is a leading cause of injury to both children and elders, and issues such as damaged steps or improper baluster spacing can be dangerous hazards.
The interior may also reveal structural issues that may not be apparent from the exterior. Signs of water damage may be an indication of a leak somewhere nearby, and cracks in the walls—which can be common particularly in adobe homes here in New Mexico—can indicate more serious structural issues if the problem is extensive.
